Week 9, Term 3 Principal's Hui

Congratulations to Sky.


Sky received her award for making great progress in maths by challenging herself to try new strategies and share her ideas.

Creating bird sculptures

Esme from Pataka came in and worked with our class and a few seniors to create bird sculptures.
We learned to look at a photo of a bird and create a structure drawing using shapes. Then we used newspaper, cardboard and masking tape to create our birds.



One another day, we learned how to make bird sculptures from a template.

This term we worked with Noah and Yogi from Just Play.
We learned about being healthy, having fun and we improved our soccer skills.

Sheryl-Moana-Maree received her award for a huge improvement in her attitude towards her learning and making good progress in reading and maths.
Shalom received her award for always completing her learning tasks to the best of her ability and for always sharing her ideas and encouraging others.

Papatuanuku and Ranginui Retelling in Ngati Awhina


This term in Ngati Awhina  we have been learning to retell the legend of Papatuanuku and Ranginui through the Arts of music, dance, visual arts, digital technology and through Sports. 
To be successful we needed to be able to work with children of different ages using our key competency skills of Relating to Others, Participating and Contributing, Managing Self and Thinking. Here are some of our presentations.

Constable Paul and Fallon

Constable Paul and Fallon showed us how they work together keeping us and each other safe.

Road Safety

We have been learning how to stay safe on the road.

'Constable Andy took us for road safety,' Luchiano wrote.

Gabriel wrote, 'I look up and down the road before I cross on the pedestrian crossing.'

Atlas wrote, 'I was learning how to walk safely on the footpath.'

'A big person needs to be on the road side and a little person needs to be on the house side,' wrote Jesse.


Shalom recorded, 'The driveways are sneaky driveways because sometimes the sneaky driveway has a tall fence and the driver can't see me so I have to stay one step away from the sneaky driveway.'

This week we have begun swimming at Cannons Creek Pool. Everyday we go by bus to the pool and work with our swimming instructors.
